Our fees
The Anxiety & Stress Clinic is a private practice. We are not a bulk-billing service, but Medicare rebates are available for eligible clients with a valid referral (see below).
Our session fees are structured below the current Australian Psychological Society (APS) recommended rate.
Fees may vary slightly between our three psychologists depending on experience and area of focus.
Psychology services are exempt from GST. Fees are reviewed periodically and the current schedule will always be confirmed at the time of booking.
Medicare rebates under a Mental Health Treatment Plan
If your GP has prepared a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) for you, you may be eligible to claim a Medicare rebate for eligible sessions. As of 1 July 2026, current Better Access rebates for a 50-minute-or-longer session are:
- Clinical psychologist: $149.05 per session
- Registered/general psychologist: $101.55 per session
- Mental health social worker: $89.50 per session
A Mental Health Treatment Plan currently allows up to 10 rebated sessions per calendar year (1 January–31 December). Your GP will usually refer you for an initial 6 sessions; after these, your psychologist sends a short progress report back to your GP, who can then refer you for the remaining sessions if further treatment is clinically appropriate.
The rebate is not the full cost of the session — the difference between our fee and the Medicare rebate (the "gap") is payable on the day.
Private health insurance
Many private health funds offer 'extras' cover that includes a rebate for psychology sessions, though this varies by fund and policy level. We recommend checking directly with your provider before your first appointment. Please note Medicare rules do not allow a rebate and a private health rebate to be claimed for the same session.
Payment and cancellations
- Payment is required at the time of your appointment.
- We ask for at least 48 hours' notice if you need to reschedule or cancel an appointment, so the time can be offered to another client.
- Late cancellations (within 48 hours) or non-attendance may incur a cancellation fee. Medicare rebates cannot be claimed on cancellation fees.
