Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we're asked most often. Can't find what you're after? Get in touch and we'll help directly.

What are your fees?

Please see our Fees & Rebates page for current session fees and Medicare rebate information.

Can I do telehealth sessions?

Please contact us to find out about current appointment format options, including telehealth.

Do I need a referral?

No — a referral isn't required to book with us. You only need one from a GP or psychiatrist if you'd like to claim a Medicare rebate. See our GP Referral Information page for details.

What conditions do you treat?

We work with adults experiencing stress and burnout, generalised anxiety, social anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, specific phobias, and PTSD. If you're not sure whether we can help with what you're experiencing, please get in touch and we can talk it through.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

Your first session is mostly about your psychologist getting to know you — what's brought you in, some relevant background, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. Expect to answer plenty of questions; this helps your psychologist build a clear picture and start shaping a plan for how to move forward together.

How long is a session?

Standard sessions run for 50 minutes.

Is everything discussed in session confidential?

Yes, with a small number of legally and ethically required exceptions. Your psychologist is bound by their professional Code of Ethics to keep what you share private, and needs your consent before sharing information with anyone else. The main exceptions are: where there's a risk of serious harm to you or someone else; where psychologists are required to report certain matters (such as child abuse); if your file is subpoenaed by a court; and, if you're being seen under a Mental Health Treatment Plan, a brief progress report is shared with your referring GP as part of coordinating your care.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies a lot from person to person, depending on how long-standing and complex the issue is, and how much work happens between sessions. Your psychologist will discuss a suggested pace and approach with you after your first session or two, and this can always be adjusted as you go.

What happens if I need urgent support outside of appointment times?

As a private practice, we're not able to provide crisis or emergency support outside session hours. Please see our 24/7 Crisis Support page, or call 000 in an emergency.

What if I don't feel like the right fit with my psychologist?

A good working relationship matters, and it's completely okay to raise this. You can speak with your psychologist directly about what you'd prefer, or contact our reception team, who can help you connect with a different psychologist on our team.

Do you see clients under NDIS, WorkCover, EAP or Chronic Disease Management Plans?

Please contact us directly to discuss whether we can support NDIS, WorkCover, EAP, or Chronic Disease Management Plan arrangements for your situation.

Why don't you have client testimonials on your website?

As registered psychologists, our practitioners are bound by AHPRA guidelines, which don't permit the use of testimonials in health service advertising. We're always happy to talk through our approach directly if that's helpful in deciding whether we're a good fit for you.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book an appointment by calling us on (02) 4263 0515 or via our contact form — we'll be in touch to confirm a time that suits you.
